Priyanka Saurabh. An order of the Supreme Court in India cleared the way for the equal opportunity for women officers to rise to the level of permanent commission and commanding officer, while the news of the first woman general in Pakistan is in the news. Today, women are advancing in every field in the world and achieving historical achievements. Indian history is replete with stories of women's sacrifice and penance. In no era were women inferior to men. Women also participated in the war in the Vedic era.

However, the medieval Puritan society left no stone unturned to keep women imprisoned in the name of dull dignities, but even then women, like Mata Jijabai and Rani Durgavati, not only recited the scriptures but also the nation. Protected unity and sovereignty. Currently, only the Indian Air Force joins women in combat roles as fighter pilots. The Air Force has 13.09% female officers, the highest among the three armies. The Army has 3.80%, female officers, while the Navy has 6%, female officers.

But women, generally considered weaker than men due to their specific physical configuration, were not so easily accepted into 'immune services'. The recruitment of women officers began in India for a period of only five years in 1992, eventually increasing to 10 and later to 14 years. In 2016, three women were deployed as firefighters. She was appointed as a pilot project. Initially, in 2019, the government decided to give permanent commission to women in all the ten branches where they are included for short service commission - Signal, Engineer, Army Aviation, for women officers who were initially limited to medical services only. Army Air Defense, Electronics and Mechanical Engineer, Army Service Corps, Army Ordnance Corps, and Intelligence.

Today, women officers are proud and essential members of the Indian Armed Forces. Avni Chaturvedi, Bhavna Kanth, and Mohana Singh are now part of the Indian Air Force's combat squadron. Somewhere in the Navy, as a pilot and as an observer, women are on board a reconnaissance plane, sometimes as a fighter from the sky. The Government of India is committed to strengthening "Stree Shakti" (female power) in the Army.

However, there are challenges in bringing female officers with their male colleagues. Female officers are now deployed on fighter jet pilots and warships, but women officers are not included in the military's infantry and armored divisions, for fear of being caught by enemies and torture. Sends soldiers to the battlefront and they are also killed there and war-making is also made. This worsens the respect of neither the country nor American women.

The point to think is that when the women of the American army can fight in Iraq and Afghanistan, why not the Indian women? If women can participate in paramilitary forces and police, then why not in the army? A big argument for not sending women to the front in India is that what would happen if Indian women soldiers were taken captive in the enemy country? One fallacy is that male soldiers, who come mainly from rural backgrounds, are not ready to "accept" a female commander.

Concerns are raised over the physiology, maternity, and physical characteristics of female officers. The difference in terms of service for female officers and their male counterparts is considered in their favor. There are concessions in physical efficiency testing standards during recruitment to female officers. Issues of hygiene, sensitivity, and privacy in female officer appointments require additional consideration. For this, behavior change will be required at the social level first.

Women warriors are named proudly in the history of the world and India. From John of Arc to Rani Lakshmibai, Rani Chennamma of Chittoor, Chand Biwi, Gond Rani Durgavati, Jhalkari Bai, Udadevi Pasi, warriors have earned their name more than male warriors. She never came to the question of how she used to change clothes in the war zone or that she would have become pregnant while being a warrior. After all, what could have happened earlier that is not happening today? Somewhere our poor mentality is not bent on weakening the role of women ??

There is a need to think balanced to study how the role of women in the Indian Army can be enhanced. There is no doubt that women are doing a lot of good work in the army, but we also need to see how their scope can be increased. Some of the concessions given to women officers can be withdrawn, selection for the command should be made through confidential reports of the officer and closed promotion board, common to both sexes, and profile names and gender selection to be hidden from the board needed. Gender equality is a social necessity of the time and applies to both female and male officers and should be ensured with a sense of balanced judgment without compromising the effectiveness of the armed forces. The participation of women can make the army more effective.

Today women are making significant contributions to the military sector all over the world. If a woman comes into the army on her own, knowing all the risks, then no one has the right to decide for her by becoming her father. If women join the army by understanding all the risks and being ready to face all the problems, then all the roles in the army should be opened to them. The military and military work as an integrated organization and working with women and men will be easier. When the women join at the level of the jawans, then only the men will have strong confidence in the women officer and the army will emerge strong.
